As Frank Lloyd Wright once said, “Wood is universally beautiful to man. It is the most humanly intimate of all materials.” For thousands of years, humans have cherished wood for its functional and artistic characteristics. It has had a deep impact on our species and has had an essential part in our religions and our ceremonies. In our modern and often impersonal world, wood provides a most dignified, elegant and protective container for our loved one’s remains.
Your urn has been handcrafted from single blocks of wood obtained from trees felled due to disease, weather or “progress”. The wet (or green) wood has been carefully shaped and hollowed. It has been slowly dried over a period of weeks, and then it was placed back on the lathe for final shaping, sanding and finishing. The final step was crafting a attractive threaded lid to secure its precious contents.
